Pookah and Purrnie

Pookah and Purrnie (full name: Copurrnicus) are "The Purr Pair". They never stop purring. They arrived at the Zoo on June 14, 2000 after my car drove itself into a county animal control shelter parking lot. Before I knew what was happening, I found myself in front of the kitten cages. A curious little black kitten in the bottom row demanded my attention; when I gave it, a little grey tiger came to get some too. Quicker than you can say "boo!", they were both in a cardboard box on my front seat and I was headed home with them. A quick stop at the vet for an exam and FeLV test and home we came.

The Purr Pair naps together

Purrnie is a little pistol. He's sweet and very cuddly, but he's curious and very stubborn. He's a very determined young lad and will not be deterred from something he wants, whether that's to escape outdoors, to steal food from the dogs' dishes, or to be cuddled on my lap. He's a stinker, and I adore him.

Pookah is a sweet, gentle girl, quiet and content. She sure can put her bigger brother in his place when she wants to, though. She's an intent little huntress, and a total sucker for an under-the-chin rub.

Both kittens are much loved by the other Zoobies, and the feeling is mutual. Mr. French grooms them and cuddles them. Mysz does, too. Pookah likes Penny's soft velvety face; Purrnie loves Blizzard.
