Darwin (The Boyfriend)

Penny's boyfriend Darwin is 217 glorious pounds of St. Bernard. Darwin is smart and affectionate and has a back yard of his own (which only adds to the attraction, in Penny's eyes). The first time Darwin met Penny, he walked up to her and gently nibbled on one of her big, floppy lips. Even when he plays with her, he's very gentle. But I don't think he's figured out yet that Penny's deaf - she tires of play and lies down facing away from Darwin. He stands behind her and makes little cajoling sounds which she, of course, doesn't hear. He thinks she's flirting with him, and he can't figure out what he's doing wrong!

Darwin's dad Paulie and mom Healey are two of Penny's favorite people (and Penny's mom's, too.) When Penny spots Paulie her tail begins to wag and she smiles. (Honest!) And Healey has magic in her hands; she can put Penny into a trance in a split second by tickling her shoulders and legs gently.
